School Administrators excited for land-based learning
On May 31, PWPSD Indigenous Education Services, in partnership with Werklund School of Education, will be leading a final professional development session for PWPSD administrators.
The session will take place outdoors, allowing staff to connect to nature and incorporate cultural teachings into discussions on decolonization, reconciliation, and Indigenization. PWPSD's Indigenous Education Services team, along with Werklund, has been supporting this professional development throughout the past year. Their guidance and support has allowed for rich conversations and reflection around how colonization has shaped PWPSD schools and the experiences of Indigenous peoples within them.
The goal of the upcoming learning session is to deepen understanding to empower action of meaningful acts of reconciliation and decolonization. The professional development sessions have been funded through a grant from Pembina Pipeline Corporation.
